Revista Mojo divulga sua lista de melhores discos de 2018 (e o Arctic Monkeys não ficou em 1º lugar) ~ Curte Rock

A revista Mojo foi uma das primeiras publicações relevantes a divulgar a sua lista dos melhores discos do ano. E se você achava que Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, o último e elogiadíssimo álbum do Arctic Monkeys faturaria o 1º lugar da lista, enganou-se. Os britânicos quase chegaram lá, mas quem ficou com a coroa foi Heaven and Earth, de Kamasi Washington.

Mas quem é Kamasi Washington? O saxofonista norte-americano (ao lado do baixista Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner) é considerado o principal representante da cena new jazz de Los Angeles, que serviu como inspiração para o cineasta Damien Chazelle no badalado filme “La la land: Cantando estações”. Juntos, eles foram fundamentais para o sucesso do álbum To Pimp a Buttlerfly (2015), do rapper Kendrick Lamar — o trabalho foi considerado por muitos críticos internacionais o melhor disco daquele ano, principalmente pela perfeita fusão entre jazz e hip-hop. E ele esteve no Brasil em abril de 2017 para um show no Theatro Municipal.

Nomes como Gorillaz, Jack White, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Johnny Marr, Björk, Belle & Sebastian, Spiritualized, Courtney Barnett, Idles e Janelle Monáe também aparecem na lista. Confira:
