A década de 1970 foi um tanto prolífica no campo do hard rock. Foi aqui que nasceram bandas, hoje expoentes máximos do gênero, como o AC/DC ou o KISS. O Led Zeppelin surgiu no fim da década anterior, mas foi nos anos 70 que alcançou o topo da carreira.
